Genevieve Blanc de Blanc Brut
Melissa Nelson's middle name is Genevieve. That's how the name came about. She has been producing the Blanc de Blancs since 2008, initially with a production of only 5,000 bottles. Only in the last few years has a Zero Dosage version been added to the Brut line.
Every year, Melissa travels to Champagne to further her education through workshops. In South Africa, there aren't many role models for high-quality sparkling wine. There are a handful of large companies that showcase good sparkling wines in their collections, such as Graham Back. However, there is a certain dynamism in the sparkling wine sector here as well, and Melissa Nelson is contributing to this.
The Chardonnay grapes are harvested from vineyards around Elgin and Bot River.
The wine remains on the lees for four years.
